"Friends With Moto" Program Offers Benefits of Discounts on Moto X and Moto G

I have heard of “friends with benefits” before, but Motorola has taken it to a whole new level by allowing Motorola employees to randomly give out discount codes for Moto X and Moto G smartphones to their “friends.” A discount on a new Motorola smartphone – now that is a real, guilt-free, benefit of knowing a Motorola Mobility employee. With this program you can shave $50 off the price of a Moto X, bringing it down to $349 off-contract, or shave $30 off the 8GB Moto G ($149) or $40 off the 16GB Moto G ($159) – not bad and a nice way to get even more of a bargain than these devices already are providing. The Motorola representative said:

“Motorola is proud of its products and wants to share them with friends and family. The Friends with Moto program was designed so every employee can give their friends discount codes for a Moto X at just $349 off-contract or a Moto G for $149 – 8GB/$159 – 16GB. Codes would be distributed at the employee’s discretion and timeline.”

The Motorola Mobility representative will share a personal URL to their “friends” that are seeking the discount.  The applicant would then fill in the application (see below), submit it to the Moto employee, and then they (or the Moto Maker Team) will forward you an email with the discount code – relying on the Motorola employee to accept the request and send you back, via email, the discount code and it looks like the offer is good until July 1, 2014.

The code is good for a one-time purchase and is entered in when checking out – it will ask you to enter any promo codes that you might have.  You cannot use it at a retail location and it is no good if your carrier is subsidizing your phone.  This promo might only be for friends that know Motorola Mobility employees, however, another website is reporting that users on Reddit and XDA Developers did receive a promo discount code when they requested one, so it may be worth a try if you can get ahold of the URL for the coupon.

Please let us know on our Google+ Page if you received this offer or if you know a Moto employee and have requested the promo codes.
