Glu Launches The Official RoboCop Game On Google Play


RoboCop fans, the long wait is over. Glu has just launched the “Official” RoboCop game on Google Play as of today, which is based off of the upcoming refresh of the original movie. In today’s world, every major blockbuster film absolutely has to have a game released along with it, right? Although the Film has yet to launch in theaters, which will be on February 12th, the game might set the stage for the film and get viewers even more excited than they already are.

The game is set in 2028 in Detroit, and you will take on the role of Alex Murphy, who is, as the story goes injured while in the line of duty, and is brought back to life as a part human but mostly robotic police officer. Equipped with powerful weaponry and advanced techniques that no normal police officer could be capable of possessing, it is your job to stop the evil that is abound in the city of Detroit and threatens the safety of its citizens. The game is set on a sort of leveling system that is similar to that of an RPG, and upon leveling up and/or completing missions you’ll be awarded in game currency which you can use to purchase new weapons, skills, and upgrade your current weapons.

Weapons you carry won’t be the only way to beat your enemies, as you’ll have access to things like drone strikes to rain down hell upon your foes. Use skills like scanning your enemies body heat with RoboCop’s viser to locate enemies and spot their weak points, giving you the edge in a showdown. You’ll even have to take on Robots from the film and battle for survival. RoboCop supports Google Play Games Services so that means G+ sign in along with leaderboards and achievements, and best of all, Cloud based save states so you can start the game on a tablet at home for example, but then take the game with you and continue from where you left off on a phone if you have to leave the house. RoboCop is free to install and play, but it does of course come with IAP. These are optional, and while they cost REAL money, they do boost or speed up the ability to obtain certain in game content.
