Last night, many of us noticed that the HP Chromebook 11 had returned to the Canadian Play Store, but it was still “Coming Soon” for those of us in the US. Now it’s back in the US Play Store and is running about $279, which is the same price as on Amazon’s website.
You may remember that Google and HP had stopped all sales of the HP Chromebook 11 on November 13th due to the faulty charger. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission stated “Google has received nine reports of chargers overheating and melting during use,” they also said “There is one report of a small burn to a consumer and one report of minor damage to a pillow from an overheating charger.”
Since then, Google and HP have redesigned the charger and sent them out to those that bought the HP Chromebook 11 already, they even sent out a Google Play Gift card with the new charger. Now HP and Google have fixed the issue with the overheating charger, the HP Chromebook 11 is back in the Play Store and available for $279. They have the sleek black, white and green, white and yellow and white and red versions in stock. Unfortunately the white and blue version is still out of stock, it appears. Hopefully that will show up soon though.
The HP Chromebook 11 uses a microUSB charger, which is why there were issues with the charger. As most other laptops and Chromebooks do not use microUSB chargers to charge. The Chromebook 11 also has an 11-inch screen that’s sporting a 1366×1768 resolution display and is also running on the Exynos 5, 5250 dual-core processor. It’s essentially the same as the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook, but it charges via microUSB, so you can grab an Anker external battery pack and charge it back up.
How many of you are going to go and pick up a HP Chromebook 11 now? Let us know in the comments below.
