It was way back during the heydays of Ice Cream Sandwich when Adobe had shocked the community by stating that they would no longer be supporting the Flash Player for Android mobile devices. Adobe went so far as to suggest that users on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean should actually uninstall the plugin, however those who had sideloaded the APK noticed that Flash Player worked flawlessly on their devices, until Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at least. It appears as if some underlying changes in Android 4.4 Kit Kat interfere with the APK installation and subsequent working of Flash Player on that version of Android. As always, some enterprising members of the Android developer community step forward to help us users with a fix. Right now, we do have a workaround for installing the Flash Player on Android 4.4 Kit Kat however, for now you would need to install the Dolphin Browser from Google Play for this workaround.
Now onto the instructions
1. First off, you would need to install the Dolphin Browser from the Play Store.
2. Open the app and go to Settings (by tapping the transparent Dolphin logo on the bottom left). Select the first icon from the right, and tap “Settings” on the menu that pops up.
3. Now go to “Web Content” and scroll down to set the Flash Player plugin to “Always on”.
4. Lastly, you would need a modified Flash Player APK to install Flash Player on your device. You can get the Flash Player APK from here. Since the APK does not require any complicated permissions, so there shouldn’t be any privacy concerns in side loading this app. Just make sure that under your Android settings the option of installing apks from “Unknown Sources” is checked.
Side loading APKs is something that we would not advise the faint of heart to do. However do know that if you proceed with these instructions, then you are doing it at your own risk. We take no responsibility whatsoever for this procedure. Personally, I have carried this out on my older HTC Sensation XL (768 MB RAM with a Qualcomm single core 1.5 GHz processor) and have not had any issues so far. Since Flash videos are processor intensive, performance on older and low-RAM devices will be somewhat sluggish.
