Did you ever hear the expression, “what a difference a day makes?” Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC Americas, blogged just yesterday:
“We are currently in the certification phase across all of our carrier partners in North America, and they share our enthusiasm for getting this software in your hands. That said, the software development process does not always follow a linear path and we know today that we will miss our self-imposed target. The good news is that we won’t miss by much as, it shouldn’t be more than one to two weeks to complete each of the carrier versions of the HTC One.”
This was in direct contrast to what was in Roger’s community forum that had the HTC One 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade coming on January 31, 2014, although they are certainly subject to change as we have often seen happen. However, a day has come and almost gone and we are happy to report that, according to users, HTC One owners in Canada on Rogers, TELUS, Bell, Virgin, SaskTel, and WIND) are receiving their OTA upgrades as you read this article, right on the heels of the Moto X update from a couple of days ago. We will have to see if Mackenzie’s enthusiasm for his Seattle Seahawks are as spot-on as his KitKat prediction. Below are a couple of screenshots shots from users showing the upgrade delivered to their HTC One’s.
It is software update 4.19.631.9 and is 585.44MB in size. According to the upgrade screens, “this update contains important enhancements and bug fixes,” and then lists, of course, the Android 4.4.2 update, Cloud Print Service, Security enhancements, and new Bluetooth profiles to support more media interactions. If you have not received the update yet, do not panic, as these are rolling updates and it might come later in the day. Sometimes you can speed up the process by checking for updates – To check your HTC One’s software update status – Touch Applications –> Settings –> About Phone –> Software update.
Please let us know on our Google+ Page if you received your update and how it went – any problems, have you notice any differences – please post any improvements or disappointments that you might have with the upgrade. Enjoy!
