We learned at CES last week, that LG is bringing their flexible display device – the LG G Flex – is coming to the US on Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile. On Thursday, Sprint announced that they will be selling the new phone in-store starting on February 7th. It’ll be available in Sprint sales channels, Telesales, and web sales starting on Friday, January 31st. New and existing Sprint customers can pre-order their LG G Flex right now through the 31st, and those that do pre-order will receive the Quickwindow Folio Case for free. That’s a $60 value.
Sprint also let us know, in their press release, that the LG G Flex will support Sprint Spark, which really isn’t surprising. For those that aren’t aware of what Sprint Spark is, it’s basically their tri-band LTE network. Which is only available in around 10 markets at this point, but it is expanding to more places. And is said to be much faster than most other LTE networks out there right now, with speeds in the 60’s or higher.
The LG G Flex, is basically a LG G2, but it features a 6-inch 720p display. The power button and volume rocker is still on the back, which I like, even though many others don’t. What’s interesting about the LG G Flex is that the display is flexible, and so is the battery. Once more, the back is “self healing” so if you scratch it up at all, you’ll see it try and heal that scratch. Which is pretty cool, but based on reviews I’ve seen (since we haven’t gotten our hands on a G Flex yet), it doesn’t appear to work as well as everyone thought it would. But this is a first-generation product, so I’m hoping LG continues to work on that technology making it look better in the next version and further down the road.
So the LG G Flex on Sprint will cost you $299.99 on a new contract, and you can pre-order now, with the device launching in stores on February 7th. How many of you are going to pick one up?
