Moto G Owners in Europe Getting a Taste of KitKat Starting Today

A few weeks ago, actually in 2013, the Moto G began getting it’s update to Android 4.4.2 – KitKat. But it was not rolling out all over the world. However it was rolling out here in the US. Now we’re seeing the update hitting the European Moto G’s. Right now, the Moto G is available unlocked in Europe, as well as North America and a few other areas. However, earlier this week, we learned that Vodafone in the UK would be launching the device, and it would be coming with Android 4.4.2 out of the box. Which is great to see, especially since this is a great low-end device.

The update to Android 4.4.2 will bring all kinds of goodies to the Moto G. Including the transparent navigation and status bar, and immersive mode. There’s tons of under-the-hood improvements as well. Of course, Motorola has probably tossed in quite a few bug fixes and performance tweaks for the Moto G in this update as well, which is common for updates.

For those of you in Europe with the Moto G, you can head into Settings and tap on About Phone then System Updates and try to pull down the update now. Or you can just wait for it to appear. Hopefully it’ll be available to everyone pretty soon. We don’t have a direct download link just yet for this one, but hopefully we can get our hands on one soon, for all of you that are impatient.

If you’ve already gotten the Android 4.4.2 update on your European Moto G, be sure to let us know in the comments below how you’re liking the update or if you’re experiencing any issues. I know on the Moto X there are a few issues with the Android 4.4 update, which Motorola has said will be fixed in the Android 4.4.2 update, which should be coming soon.
