Red Nexus 5 To Appear Just In Time For Valentines Day?

Earlier last week we posted a story about Google potentially launching new color options for the Nexus 5. In the post there was a video that showed someone looking at the Nexus 5 on the Google Play Store “Devices” section in the browser, and they were clicking through the different available color options, of which included the original Black and White, but also showed them clicking through six other new color options to be supposedly offered in the future. Among those new colors was a “Red” Nexus 5, but also included, a Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Purple variant of the most recent Nexus smartphone. For the first day or two afterwards there hadn’t been any evidence to really show or support this leaked video, with plenty of people being skeptical that this was indeed happening because Google has A: never done this before, and B: it just didn’t seem like a very authentic video to most. It was low quality, and could have been easily mocked up. In short, it was questionable.

After the video leak, there were further leaks that came to light in the form of photos, which were images of the “Red” Nexus 5 displaying its back for all to see. As of today, some more leaked evidence to further support the notion that Google will be launching new colors of the Nexus 5,(at least the Red color) comes from Sprint, with an internal document listing that shows the Red version of the Nexus 5 is supposedly going to be showing up on Google Play for purchase on February 4th, which would make it available in plenty of time for a Valentines Day gift. Well… maybe, as Valentines Day is only a short 10 days after the rumored launch date for the Red device, and it’s slim that it would make it to anyone in time to be presented as a gift.

Still, it’s interesting to see even further evidence that the Red Nexus 5 may actually be showing up, and if this color turns out to be true, than we should see the other color options show up sometime afterwards in the near future. If Google actually does launch a Red Nexus 5 and then other colors afterwards, what color would you choose if you don’t already own a Nexus 5? Would you go for one of the new color offerings or stick with the standard Black or White? More evidence is bound to leak out in the coming days as we close in on the 4th of next month, so keep it here as the news rolls out.
