Samsung Announces Details for This Year's Developer Day at MWC

Samsung is bringing a strong presence to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain this year. We may or may not see announcements for new Samsung smartphones and wearables, but we do now know that Samsung will be hosting a developer event there. Called Samsung Developer Day, it will take place on the third day of MWC. Samsung will be announcing their updated Samsung Mobile SDK, the Samsung MultiScreen Gaming Platform, and the Samsung MultiScreen SDK. A big focus this year is gaming, it seems.

The Samsung Developer Day has happened each year at MWC since 2011. is also going to spotlight sessions for developers to help them in creating new apps for the Samsung platform. There will be special booths set up to showcase apps built by Samsung partners using their specific SDK, which is a first. The Korean company is holding an awards ceremony for the Smart App Challenge for Galaxy S4. The challenge took place in 2013 and Samsung is going to be handing out awards to the winners. The CEO of Vision Mobile will be making a presentation about new mobile app trends and what will be coming in 2014 as well.

The Samsung application booths are a major focus of this year’s Developer Day. These booths will be set up and open for all four days of MWC. From February 24th through the 27th, attendees can visit these booths and check out the up-and-coming apps that developers are creating with Samsung’s SDK. Samsung is also talking about a demonstration of “smart mobile life” at their booths, which could mean demonstrations of new wearables and anything else that the companies deems “mobile.”

Anyone attending MWC can visit the Samsung booths and see what’s new, but the Developer Day is only guaranteed for invited attendees. If you’ve not been invited, you’ll just have to wait in line and see if there’s room to get in. If you’re an Android app developer or if you’re looking to get into developing for Samsung’s ecosystem, this is an event that you won’t want to miss. You can find all of the details on the Samsung Developers site.
