If you’re an Android fan obsessed with having the latest and greatest, there’s a chance you’ve already considered picking up a Sony Xperia Z1s. The phone finally made it to T-Mobile’s shelves yesterday, and now in a effort to sweeten the deal for those who may be on the fence, Sony is offering a year of PlayStation Plus to early adopters. To qualify for the promotion, you’ll need to buy your Xperia Z1s through either T-Mobile or Sony between January 13, 2014 and February 12, 2014. So, that means you’ve only got about three weeks left if you want to net yourself a one-year subscription to PS Plus. Once you’ve got the phone in-hand, you’ll need to enter your information and upload pictures of your receipt and IMEI number from the Xperia Z1s box to Sony’s website. Consumers will have until March 5, 2014 to do this, so you’ll have just about a month to upload your information after purchasing the device. When that’s done, you just need to sit back and wait for Sony to deliver your subscription code to your email inbox, which the company says it will do by March 21 at the latest.
Back in the day, PlayStation Plus was just a bonus subscription PS3, PSP, and PS Vita users could sign up for. It was by no means required, but those who paid for a subscription were treated to a constantly shifting catalog of free games, along with special offers during many PSN sales and the ability to upload their save data to the cloud. These days, PS Plus is a requirement if you want to play your PS4 games online, but a subscription to the service still comes with all of the perks it offered before the change. Therefore, if you’re also a PS4 owner, this is a good way to get a year of online gaming on the house (though buying a phone solely because it offers a $50 subscription for free strikes us as a poor decision). T-Mobile has the Xperia Z1s available for $0 down and $22 per month for 24 months. That isn’t a bad deal, but when you factor in the cost of unlimited talk, text, and data, your month phone bill begins to creep dangerously close to $100 per month. If you’re still on the fence, be sure to check out our review of the device to learn more. The Xperia Z1s certainly seems like a solid choice for those who are already on T-Mobile’s network, and we imagine this deal will definitely make the decision easier for some.
