Like I said in my Otterbox Defender review for the LG G Flex earlier this week, Otterbox is known for their durability in their cases. Many people will buy an Otterbox case because they provide great protection for your device. While they are a bit pricey, it’s worth every penny, especially if you’re accident-prone. Right now, Otterbox has two cases available for the LG G Flex. That’s the Defender and the Commuter. I reviewed the Defender earlier this week, and today we’re looking at the Commuter case, which is in Glacier.
The Commuter Series case is curved like the G Flex and it has two layers. There’s a nice gray TPU layer that goes against the phone, then there’s the hard-plastic white layer that goes on the outside. It’s not as thick as the Defender, but it also doesn’t give you as much protection as the Defender either, and it’s about $15 cheaper. This case is designed to optimize the full functionality of the world’s first curved smartphone, it also has the ability to Flex.
Of course, the Commuter Series case also has the custom cutout on the back for the camera and rear-facing buttons on the LG G Flex. There’s also a cutout on the back for the speaker, and flaps at the bottom for the headphone jack and microUSB port. And that’s about it for cutouts and flaps. If you want to change your SIM card, you’ll have to go ahead and take the case off to access the micro SIM card port.
The look of the Commuter case isn’t the best, but it will protect your device, which is the biggest reason why you’re buying it. It does come in black, Glacier and Papaya, if you’re interested in a different color. The Commuter Series is one of Otterbox’s most famous line of cases. It’s available for most devices, for about the same price. That would be $44.95. It’s available from Amazon and Otterbox right now.
