Looking for a great pair of headphones? Well you may want to stop and read this review of the V-MODA Crossfade M-100’s. I’ve been using them for a little over a week. I’ve been using them pretty much all day everyday for around 10 days now. I even used them during our podcast earlier this week. Now keep in mind that these are a bit on the pricey side, but don’t look at the price just yet. Let’s see if I can sell you on these headphones.
In the Box
In the box we’ve got the Crossfade M-100 headphones, also the carrying case, which is really nicely built. There are also two cables. One with a microphone and controls. The other is a SharePlay audio cable. So if you’re with a friend they can plug their headphones into that cable and you both can listen to the song or something from the same port on the device. Which is pretty cool to have that there. There is also a 1/4″ 24k gold pro adapter. As V-MODA is marketing these towards DJs and other musicians.
Features
The Crossfade M-100’s also feature a 45-degree plug that’s 24k gold as well, it weighs just 280 grams, pure sound at 5hz or 30kHz, as well as 10+ flat headband bends, and over 1 million cable bends. Making the cable very durable. Additionally the side plates are removable, on the actual headphones, so you can add a different one if you want. Instead of sticking to the plain black. So they are also customizable, and you can order replacements.
Sound Quality
The sound quality in these headphones are really great. I was actually really surprised. I had been using the Supertooth Freedom Bluetooth/NFC headphones for a while, and I was really impressed with their sound quality. But compared to the V-MODA Crossfade M-100’s, the Supertooth Freedom’s are crap, in the sound quality department. Now these do not have Bluetooth capability, unfortunately. So you’re stuck with just plugging them in the old fashioned way.
Comfort-ability
One of the big things about headphones, is that they need to be comfortable. I hate to keep comparing these to the Supertooth Freedom’s, but those aren’t all that comfortable. Especially after wearing them for a few hours. On the other hand, the V-MODA Crossfade M-100’s are very comfortable. I’ve been wearing them all day long, and sometimes I forget I even have them on. They are just that comfortable. The headband is leather with some padding inside which makes it really comfortable on your head, and it’s not too heavy either.
Portability
These headphones do fold up very small, and fit into the nice looking pouch, which I’m a big fan of. You can also remove the 3.5mm cable and switch it to the other side if you’d like. The pouch also has a clip, so you can hang it on your belt-loop or something similar, if you really wanted too.
Final Word
The V-MODA Crossfade M-100’s are pretty expensive. They are right up there with Bose and Beats Audio, at $310. However they are a bit cheaper over on Amazon right now. So the real question is, are they worth the money? I’ll say that if you’re an audiophile and need or want the best quality headphones for your music needs, then yes. But if you’re just an occasional listener with headphones and just looking for a nice pair of headphones, I’d say go check out the Urbanears Plattan headphones. As they are much cheaper. That doesn’t mean I don’t like these headphones, but at over $300, it’s not going to be everyone’s first choice.
