Last week, LG dropped a bombshell on us. Well not really a bombshell as we knew it was coming. But they announced the LG G Pro 2 in Korea, ahead of Mobile World Congress. Which is standard for LG. As they like to release their devices in their homeland first before bringing it to the rest of the world. The LG G Pro 2 is a beast of a phone. It features a 5.9-inch 1080p IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3200mAh removable battery, Android 4.4.2 – KitKat and a 13MP OIS+ camera on the back which can record 4K video.
However, today in Korea, LG held a press event where they invited the press to come along and check out their new device. They also showed off Knockcode, which is the next evolution in Knockon that was introduced on the LG G2 last fall. With Knockcode, you can create your own passcode for the device, but tapping the device. As shown in the video below, you can tap in four places making a square to unlock your device, which works as a pattern lock to secure your device. There was also talk of being able to open apps from the screen being turned off with the Knockcode, however that wasn’t shown off in the video that we’ve got. But it does sound like a pretty awesome feature.
When I was reviewing the LG G2 and G Flex, my favorite feature was the KnockOn feature. It basically means that you never have to use the buttons on the back of the device. As you can turn on/off your device by tapping the screen, and then the volume controls are in the notification bar as well. It’s a pretty cool feature, and I’m glad to see them working harder with it.
