Lenovo has made some big announcements at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, from apps, to tablets. They are launching not one, not two, but three new smartphones, the S860, S850 and the S660. Each smart phone has been released with a different type of consumer in mind, with different options and designs available. Lets dive right in and take a look at what we got so far.
The Lenovo S860 is the higher end device when it comes to specs, and price. Coming in at $349, the S860 is the most expensive device out of the three, which is still a great deal. What you get for that low price is a 5.3 inch smart phone, with 2GB of RAM. The device is being said to use a 4000mAh battery to run for a full 40 days of standby time and 24 hours of talk time. This is still to be tested in the wild so we will see. The more interesting feature of this device, is with such power capabilities, the device doubles as a spare battery pack for other mobile devices you may carry around with you. Using a micro-USB cable, you can connect the S860 to another device, and it will charge the connected device. The mid-range device has been dubbed the Lenovo S850.The Lenovo S850 is more for the light user who is more concerned with style and design than anything else. This device is coming with a 5-inch display, and a $269 price tag. There is an 1.3GHZ MediaTek chip inside, which is the same as the higher end S860 model. There is a 13 MP rear and 5 MP front facing camera on this model, and the material used to build this beauty of a device, is glass. Thats right similar to the a nexus device you may be familiar with, the Lenovo S850 is all glass, and has a pink or white option for us to choose from. The last device that Lenovo launched in the S line, was the Lenovo S660. Another small but interesting feature of this device, has to do with the logo on the back. The word Lenovo, branded on the back will light up for notifications, and will be customizable at some point down the line.
The S660 is the lower end model of the S line, and still not a bad device, and with a price of $229, it is definitely worth a look. The display size is definitely smaller than the higher two models, measuring at 4.7-inches. Though the smaller size screen allows for room to expand storage via a micro-sd slot, which can go up to 32GB. The design is brushed metal, and looks just as clean as the others. The battery on the S660, is said to last a full 24 hours as well, which some of us welcome with open arms. This device is a better option for those of us not too concerned with specs, but still want great options for great prices. All three of these devices are due to be released in June and will be available in the US.
The S line of Lenovo devices is getting bigger, and Lenovo definitely wants us to know that they are here to play ball. Competing with price marks only seen by Nexus devices and the Moto G and Moto X, they are definitely catching our attention. Especially since these price points are off contract prices.
