There have been plenty of leaks about the features and specs that are expected to be in the upcoming Galaxy S 5. With just under a week away from the big MWC event in Barcelona, we’re sure to find out soon enough what the next flagship from Samsung will have under the hood, as they’re slated to unveil the phone at their own special Unpacked 5 event just before MWC begins. As anyone might have guessed, more leaks(tips) have surfaced about the phone that shed some light on what we’ll see at it’s announcement.
Sources close to the matter spoke to Bloomberg today and told them that the Galaxy S 5 might have a lower price point then previous models, and that the decision to do so might have something to do with at least one carrier requesting Samsung to offer the device at lower cost. If the information given was correct, than we should expect to see not only the Galaxy S 5 launched soon, but also an updated Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The Galaxy S 5 is said to have a 5.2 inch screen, that will be sharper than that of the previous Galaxy S(S4), and that it will also come with improvements to the battery inside the phone and improvements made to the camera as well. Those types of upgrades are nothing new when it comes to device advancements, but it’s always nice to hear.
We’re still a little hazy on the matter of the finger print scanner that is supposedly being embedded into the home button on the front, and we’re not sure how useful of a feature this would be to most consumers who pick up the device. It’s definitely cool as an added layer of security, but how and how well the fingerprint scanner actually works, may determine how secure it actually is, if it actually exists. Some other rumors about the Galaxy S 5 state that it will be launched in black and white just like with the Note 3, and that we should expect three models of the Galaxy S 5 to choose from when it comes to storage, with Samsung offering up 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models of the phone for users. If the storage rumor is true, which one would suit your needs the best? Do you store things mostly on the device or do you use other outlets for storing files like the microSD or the Cloud?
