Samsung is on stage announcing the Galaxy S5 along with the Gear Fit right now. They’ve also announced the US availability for the Galaxy S5. It’s no surprise, but the Galaxy S5 is coming to T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, MetroPCS, and US Cellular. Samsung is stating that the Galaxy S5 is launching in the US beginning in April. Which is about what we expected, since we saw that Spigen case hit Amazon with a release date of April 15th. So come April we should see six launches of the Galaxy S5, with Verizon likely being last.
But the Galaxy S5 isn’t the only thing that Samsung is pushing out in the US come April. We are also going to have the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit. These will all be available come April as well.
Samsung is stating that the Galaxy S5, and the new family of Gears will be available at their experience shops, carrier stores, as well as Best Buy, Amazon, Costco, Target, Radio Shack, Sam’s Club, and Walmart. None of these are surprising because the Galaxy S4 was available at all of those retailers as well. So far we don’t have any word on the pricing of the Galaxy S5, but I’d expect it to be around $500-600 off-contract which is where the previous models have been priced at. Or around $199 on-contract (probably $0 down from T-Mobile). Although we won’t know for sure until April when it is officially launched.
The Unpacked event is still going on right now, so keep checking back to the site to make sure you’ve got all the info on the Galaxy S5. As there’s going to be a lot this afternoon and throughout the rest of the week.
