We’re big fans of Google’s Chromebooks here and it’s a safe bet that a lot of you out there are as well. If you’re looking for an inexpensive laptop to browse the web, then this current offering of Chromebooks will appeal to you. In fact, there’s never been so much choice for a potential Chromebook buyer to choose from these days. Toshiba’s latest slips in with the rest of them to offer pretty much the same experience, but with one crucial difference; its size. The Toshiba Chromebook 13, is as you might have guessed a 13.3-inch Chromebook. Making it the only 13-inch Chromebook, as well as one of the largest to come along since the Pixel and the original Samsung Series 5 Chromebooks.
Toshiba’s first Chromebook is now available to purchase in the US as well as over the pond in the UK. In the States, you can pick one up from Amazon for just $279.99, as well as your local Micro Center. Meanwhile, in the UK it’s available from Amazon too, with a price tag of £249, and a release date of February 10th. For the price, Toshiba’s Chrome OS powered laptop is a pretty decent proposition. Especially when you consider its size, at 13.3-inches it’s still portable, but offers that much more screen real estate to work with. Needless to say, I’m thinking of trading in my Acer C720 for this.
At 0.8-inches thick and 3.3 lbs, it’s a lightweight as well, and still manages to provide 9 hours of battery life. It’s got the same Haswell Celeron that’s inside of the Acer C720 and the HP Chromebook 14, which delivers enough power for everyday browsing. It’s a shame there’s only 2GB of RAM in here, but Chrome OS has become relatively frugal in its last few releases. Still, a 4GB option would be nice to see. For $280 though, how much can we complain? Those looking for a touchy-feeling Chromebook could opt for the C720P Is Toshiba’s Chromebook just what you’ve been looking for? If so, let us know in the comments below!
