After the debacle surrounding the 2013 Nexus 7 and Verizon’s unwillingness to certify the device for use on their network (despite the fact that they had to) we were beginning to wonder whether or not the Nexus 7 would ever get on Big Red’s LTE network. Well, recently we’ve been hearing a lot more and now, the Nexus 7 2013 is available to surf the web on Verizon’s admittedly very good 4G LTE network. Starting today, you can even buy the Nexus 7 2013 from Verizon themselves, of course this comes with a contract in typical Verizon fashion.
Depending on whether or not you’re happy with contracts, and yet another monthly bill from Big Red, the deal might be just what you’re looking for. Although, we doubt that. Still, the Nexus 7 is now available to order from Verizon’s own website for $249.99 on a two-year contract. A $100 subsidy for two-years isn’t all that great, and if you would like you can still pay the full $349.99 from Verizon, which is exactly the same price as it from the Play Store. For an extra $79 though, you can get an add-on bundle that gets you a Chromecast, some screen protectors and an in-car charger, we’re sure that’s a great deal as well.
Meanwhile, if you really don’t want to buy the device from Verizon and are competent enough to put in a SIM card yourself then you can just go ahead and purchase it from the Play Store as you would the WiFi-only version. Those that have already bought a 4G Nexus 7 should be receiving a 37MB OTA that enables the device to connect to Verizon’s 4G network. It might have taken far too long to get the Nexus 7 up and running on Verizon’s network, but those looking to get online on the go might want to pay attention to this. After all, no matter how you feel about their pricing, Verizon’s 4G network is easily one of the best in the country. Let us know in the comments below if you’ve been waiting for Big Red’s LTE on your Nexus 7, or if you already went with someone else.
