Samsung has been practically launching tablet devices in every possible screen size. We had also reported earlier that for this year, the Korean manufacturer had aims to get a larger share of the tablet market segment pie. The rumor mill had been spinning pretty fast just before the Mobile World Congress and we were expecting Samsung to announce a refresh to their Galaxy Tab series. The rumored Galaxy Tab 4 series did not get announced at the MWC, however in the latest (and probably intentional) slip-up from Samsung, the company’s website listing compatibility for the Gear Fit lists the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 amongst the 20 Galaxy devices which the wearable would be compatible with.
The image above indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 will be available in 3 screen sizes – 7 inch, 8 inch and 10.1 inch displays. Unfortunately, the image does not leak any more information pertaining to the mythical Galaxy Tab 4 – so it doesn’t give us much scope for speculation either. However, since the Galaxy Tab 3 series is ageing, it is safe to assume that Samsung is planning an upgrade to the series. Also, since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is listed on the compatibility chart for the Gear Fit, not to mention that the Gear Fit is scheduled to launch sometime by the end of this month, we would speculate that the Galaxy Tab 4 would be outed before the fitness tracker finally comes out.
Samsung has definitely set its sights on gaining a foothold in all niche markets, be it the tablet segment or the newly upcoming wearables arena. The Gear Fit, for the uninitiated, is Samsung’s attempt at creating a device which lies somewhere between a fitness tracker and a Smartwatch. The Gear Fit can be used as a standalone device; however, without pairing it to a compatible smartphone, the notification features would not work.
Though the news of the Samsung Tab 4 is more or less confirmed with this leak, we would keep our eyes peeled for any official announcements. Till that happens, do let us know if you think Samsung’s strategy of launching a device in every possible screen size (and praying that one of it would click with the masses) would work or not. Our comment section awaits.
