One of the more interesting smartphones we saw in 2013 was definitely the LG G Flex. I reviewed it earlier this year when it finally made it’s way into the US on T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. LG has now announced that their Curved display G Flex has been awarded the iF Design Award. It received a Gold Award along with 74 other products. LG states “The G Flex was commended by iF Judges for implementing a new approach to the smartphone interface by putting controls on the back and adopting a curved display, thereby adding immensely to the smartphone experience in terms of both ergonomics and quality.”
I honestly have to say, I was quite pleased with the LG G Flex when I was using it a few weeks ago. It’s a pretty cool device, and the curved display takes a bit of getting used too, but it’s not too bad. Now as far as the rear buttons go, it wasn’t hard for me to get used too since I use a G2 as my daily driver. LG used a Plastic OLED or POLED display on the LG G Flex here, which is naturally flexible. LG also put a self-healing back on the G Flex which isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely cool to have, as it will automatically hide minor scratches after some time, and a bit of heat.
