LG's G Pro 2 to Cost Less than Samsung's Galaxy S5 in Taiwan, Telling of US Pricing?

There are many factors behind any great smartphone that feed it’s popularity. Specs are one of the major parts as well as features and design, but for the common consumer, or the majority of us, there is the price point. If the Taiwan market is any sign of what we will be seeing, the LG G Pro 2 does have a chance against the Samsung Galaxy S5.

LG launched their G Pro 2 device in Taiwan, and Samsung announced price points for the Galaxy S5 for the same market. We now know that, in Taiwan, the G Pro 2 comes with a $684 price tag for the 16GB model and $718 price tag for the 32GB model. Samsung however, is taking a different approach, with the 16GB model of the Galaxy S5 going for $750 and the 32GB model going for $783.

LG has already began rolling out the G Pro 2 to certain Asian markets, starting with their native South Korea. So LG already has a head start there, and now in Taiwan as well. The price point will also help LG sell devices and possibly hit their goal of 100,000 devices in Taiwan alone. Especially since the competition, Samsung, is launching their devices with a significantly higher price tag. Much like their approach to the Gear 2, Samsung seems to be hoping that features alone will help sell the Galaxy S5. That consumers won’t mind paying a high price for their device in exchange for the feature and specs list. This news could also be telling to what we will see in the US as well.

It’s not too far-fetched to assume that we will see similar pricing here in the US for both of these devices. At the very least, we may see LG’s device at a cheaper price than the Samsung Galaxy S5. We will just have to wait and see what happens closer to April 11th, which is when Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is set to hit shelves all over the world. We still don’t have the official release date for the LG G2 in the US as of yet, but as soon as we do, you will as well. How much does the price of a device affect your decision in purchasing it? If the Samsung Galaxy S5 is more expensive than the LG G Pro 2, which one would you purchase?
