At this point, I think every aspect of the Moto X is now in the Google Play Store. Motorola has been tossing a lot of apps into the Play Store since they launched the Moto X last year. Why put their apps in the Play Store? Simple. It means they can update them without pushing out an OTA, which can take some time due to carriers wanting to certify them and stuff like that. This way they bypass all of that nonsense and get you your update a whole lot quicker. Motorola already has Active Display, Touchless Control, the Camera and a whole bunch of other apps in the Play Store, and now you can add Motorola Help to the list.
Motorola Help, which used to be known as MotoCare, is basically Motorola’s support app. The app contains a ton of basic how to’s, tips, and plenty of support information. Additionally, the app also features an option to call Motorola support directly, or start a chat session straight from your smartphone. That’s definitely more than you get with most other OEMs out there. Basically, none of the functionality has changed with this update. The essential changelog is basically new name and it’s in Google Play. That’s really all there is too it. But now this means we could see some changes to Motorola Help in the near future, which it’ll be interesting to see what changes Motorola does to the Motorola Help App.
Obviously, this app is only compatible with the DROID Maxx, DROID Mini, DROID Ultra, Moto X and the Moto G. The app is available now on the Play Store, but your phone should update to it automatically, and even if it doesn’t update today, I don’t think there’s a big deal in getting the update right now as it is only a name change thats new in the update.
