The Prodigal Game Returns: Flappy Bird's Return to Android and iOS Coming in the Future

The wait shall soon be over. After a long hiatus from the App Markets of the world, the game that once held the modern world on the brink of total destruction (or at least, total distraction), will return: Flappy Bird. Indeed, after being taken off the Google Play Store and App Store for iOS, Game developer Dong Nguyen has announced that his hit game will be coming back in the near future.

He had received emails during the time that the game was utterly viral, saying that “workers who had lost their jobs, a mother who had stopped talking to her kids.” He also told the Rolling Stone Magazine that the Vietnam Press was relentless in their pestering. “At first I thought they were just joking, but I realize they really hurt themselves[,]” he said in response to the emails. He said further that if flappy bird was to return to the market, that it would come with a clear warning: Please take a break.

Flappy Bird saw an incredible burst of popularity earlier in the winter, undoubtedly bringing in an incredible amount of Ad Revenue for Dong – despite this, however, he felt morally obligated to take the game down due to the dangers that it was presenting to the public. The addicting game is still installed on hundreds of devices – some of which are going up on Ebay and other webstores for thousands of dollars.
