It’s been a while since Samsung has put out a Chromebook or even a Chromebox. Their last Chromebook was released in 2012, and was the very first ARM-based Chromebook. It was running their Exynos 5 dual-core processor, the same SoC that is in the Nexus 10. It was an unique experience, is a good way to put it. I didn’t particularly like the Samsung Chromebook, but many others did.
We’ve been expecting a newer version of Samsung’s Chromebook for quite a while now. We’ve even seen some leaks of the Chromebook at retailers like B&H Photo, which had a 2GB and 4GB model. Today, famed leaker @evleaks leaked out a new picture today. This picture shows what appears to be a Chromebook, as you can see the Chrome logo on it, and it appears to have the same Faux-leather back that we have on the Galaxy Note 3 as well as the new Galaxy TabPRO and NotePRO tablets that were announced at CES in January. Evleaks basically said that the “Galaxy Note 3 design language marches on…”.
I’m not too sure what I think about having a Chromebook with Faux Leather on the back. Of course, I also said that about the Galaxy Note 3 and I ended up really liking the design. So it’s one of those things where we’ll have to wait until it’s done to really see if we like it or not. But the specs are reportedly pretty high-end, with another Exynos processor inside, the option of either 2GB or 4GB of RAM and a slightly larger display. Hopefully it’s got more pixels, because the 1366×768 resolution is getting kinda old. Or is that just me?
