There are so many Galaxy devices out there that sometimes I wonder if Samsung is just trying to flood the markets with them. Last month Samsung came out and told us that they are going to come out with the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, which will be extremely similar to the regular Galaxy Tab 3. The differences, besides some minor hardware alterations that I will get to shortly, are capitalized by the fact that Samsung will be releasing this devices in three different color variants here in the U.S., and perhaps as many as five variants down in Latin America, based on the Samsung Latin American website. Maybe these two extra colors will find their way to the States, but for now all we know of is the first three: Blue Green, Peach Pink, and Lemon Yellow.
In regards of the hardware, we see nothing awe-inspiring happening here. As the name implies, the tablet is just a ‘lite’ version of the original, which typically means that the internals are watered down to make prices cheaper. This is surprisingly not the case with the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. The camera is down to 2MP as opposed to 3.15MP on the original, and the battery has been reduced to 3,600mAh, but besides that everything is mostly the same. The screen is still 7 inches and the resolution is still 1,024 x 600. They both have 8GB internal storage alongside 1GB of RAM. Both have a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB 2.0 connectivity. All in all, the only differences are in the camera and the battery size. If you have been looking to get a Galaxy Tab for yourself, I would recommend waiting a bit more to see how this one pans out, as it is the most affordable Samsung tablets in existence, putting a dent of €190 ($260) into your pocketbook. For the internals we are seeing here, this is not the best value you can get for your hard-earned cash, but if you love Samsung products and need a tablet, and you don’t mind a slightly lesser battery life due to the smaller capacity, pick this one up when you can.
