Our American readers will be unfamiliar how UK phone contracts work (and perhaps a little jealous at their prices), as a refreshed a common practice across the pond is throw in freebies. Of course, this sort of thing happens all over the world, but Sony has made this increasingly regular when a new phone of theirs hits the street. UK phone giant Phones 4U recently opened pre-orders for the Xperia Z2 on a variety of different networks, but now Vodafone themselves have opened up pre-orders for the device. For our UK readers, Vodafone and Sony have put together an offer that a lot of you might find too good to resist, which easily bests the offer of a free Bluetooth speaker.
Vodafone is offering a free 32-inch Sony Bravia TV for those that pre-order the Xperia Z2, The 32-inch TV in question is a Smart TV and looks pretty decent to us. Unfortunately though, there are only 3,000 of these up for grabs, which is a shame. Chances are you might be out of luck when pre-ordering your Xperia Z2, but if you hurry there might still be some left. The phone is “free” from £47 a month on 3G contracts with 3GB of data. Of course, that’s not going to satiate most of our readers, is it? Vodafone recently unveiled their XXL 4G plans, which offers 13GB of data a month, with Unlimited everything else, if that interests you and you want an Xperia Z2 along with it, then you’ll be looking at paying the princely sum of £62 a month for two years. Yeah, we didn’t see it was going to be cheap, did we?
The red network does also throw in some interesting add-ins such as Spotify and Sky Sports on the go, and with 9 or 13GB of data on 4G you should be able to enjoy those offers. The sad truth however, is that no matter where you head to get your hands on Sony’s latest in the UK is going to cost you a pretty penny. The Xperia Z2 and its 3GB of RAM, Snapdragon 801 and 5.2-inch IPS display won’t come cheap, and it looks like Sony is charging the same old premium they always have.
