Alleged Unpublished Sony Catalog Shows Off Leaked Images Of The Xperia A2

It looks like Sony could be gearing up to relaunch the Xperia Z1 compact in Japan under the Xperia A2 moniker, internally codenamed as “Altair”. What seems to be a refresh of the Z1 compact was seen inside an unpublished Sony catalog that seems to have multiple upcoming Sony devices in it. You can see various colors listed along with the Xperia A2 name. The Xperia A2 when launched will end up coming in four colors including a gray/black, white, orange, and lavender. The device looks pretty much the same as the Xperia Z1 compact, so minus the color changes maybe Sony has changed up the hardware a bit.

The Xperia A2 will come with a 4.3-inch display according to the image of the device, so there’s at least one feature between it and the Z1 compact that is exactly the same, but everything else is written in Japanese so there were no other details that we were able to make out other than the name and display size. Like the original Xperia Z1 compact, if the specs are the same we imagine it could be housing a quad-core processor and sport the 20MP camera, and perhaps come with the same water resistance that has come to be known on more than a few of Sony’s latest devices. We could also suspect that it would come running Android kit kat out of the box as the Xperia Z1 compact did. Since the screen size is also the same, it would seem likely that Sony would give this device the same 720p resolution, and it could come with at least 16GB of storage space as well as 2GB of RAM.

We have no way of knowing just yet what kind of specs will be housed inside the Xperia A2 for sure, they could very well be listed in the image in Japanese for all we know. According to the source that posted the images, the Xperia A2 is to have the same specs as the Xperia Z1 compact, but seeing as nothing from Sony has been confirmed yet, just assume that the specs could be different for the time being.
