Samsung has long been known a company to take care of their devices and customers with timely updates to the latest version of Android. Even with older devices, such as the Galaxy S II, Samsung updates them as far along as they possibly can. When it comes to Android 4.4 KitKat, which was launch last Fall, Samsung have done a good job already with the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 all running Google’s latest version of Android. Now, it would appear that Samsung is rolling out the update to Galaxy Note II owners in Europe, which should be great news for Galaxy Note II owners all over the place.
As SamMobile is reporting, the update to Android 4.4.2 is rolling out in France as of right now and brings with it a number of changes. First thing’s first, the build number you’re looking for is N7100XXUFND3 and as this is rolling out in France, there’s a good chance that other parts of Europe are getting the update as well. While this does mean those in the US have another wait on their hands, it shouldn’t be too much longer, or at least we hope, anyway. The update brings with it all the changes from KitKat, such as cloud printing support and the statusbar icons have now indeed turned white. There’s also an unlock-to-camera button on the lockscreen as well for easy access.
There doesn’t appear to be any changes to TouchWiz or the Samsung features installed on the phone, so if you were hoping for some of the features from the Note III or the Galaxy S5, you’ll be a little disappointed. Nevertheless, this is great news for Galaxy Note II owners and should be good news for Galaxy S III users too, after all in Europe they share the same processor so the update for the Galaxy S III might be not too far away.
