During CES, Sprint announced their brand new “Framily” plan, a plan that combined your friends and family to create a cheaper bill for everyone. For example, one person on an account will pay $55 for unlimited talk, text and 1 GB of data. If you would like 3 GB of data, you add $10 to the cost, and if you would like unlimited data, you add $20. Every person you add to the Framily drops the price by $5. Once you hit lines seven through ten, each person will pay $25 plus whatever data plan they choose. If you go with the unlimited data plan, you have the option to upgrade your phone once a year. However, the catch to this is that you need to have the unlimited data plan on the line for 24 consecutive months, or you are not eligible for an annual upgrade.
The Framily plan is not new, however Sprint is finally allowing customers to go elsewhere to switch to this plan. Starting on April 4th, customers will be able to go to Best Buy to get the Framily plan. Customers who go to Best Buy are also receiving $100 gift cards from April 4th to the 13th if they go with the EasyPay Installment Plan.
Some Best Buy stores have had access to the Framily Plans already, depending on location, however it appears as though all stores will have access to the plans now. You no longer need to remember the account holders password or the last four of their social to add to a plan. Now, if you’re interested in joining the Framily plan, you simply need the Framily ID. Can’t remember the Framily ID? Start your own Framily and you have 14 days to switch over to an existing Framily. Just remember that if you join the Framily plan and plan on getting a new phone, you’ll need to add anywhere from $15 to $30 each month (depending on the phone you choose) to the cost of your plan.
Best Buy will still have access to the Unlimited My Way plans, in case customers do not wish to join the Framily plan just yet. That’s good news for those of you who don’t mind being on contract for two years, and would rather not pay an extra monthly fee for your phone. Now that Framily is available in more places, will you be switching over to Sprint for your mobile phone needs?
