LG isn’t just known for their high-end devices like the LG G2, LG G Pro 2, and the upcoming LG G3. But they also have plenty of mid-range and low-end devices out there. In fact, at Mobile World Congress in February, LG announced a slew of new low-end devices. The LG L65 launched in Russia, while the L40, L70 and L90 haven’t really launched anywhere just yet. But they all feature Android 4.4 KitKat and LG’s newest feature, Knock Code. Which debuted on the LG G Pro 2 – if they can ever get it launched outside of Korea.
A Russian website, Hi.Tech.Mail.ru got a hold of a few press images, and also the leaked specs of the new LG L80 Dual. Which the Dual is typically there for dual-SIM which isn’t so popular here in the US, but it’s much more popular in other countries, specifically countries in Asia. As far as specs go, we’re looking at a 5-inch 800×400 resolution display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of storage, 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS, as well as a 2450mAh battery. Which should last the LG L80 Dual quite a while, given the resolution of the display and the processor. We’re also looking at a 5-megapixel camera on the back, with a front-facing VGA camera – that’s about 0.3MP in size.
So not an overwhelming device here, but definitely a good low-end device from LG. Especially with LG’s battery tech it’ll be a great device that’ll likely be very cheap. If it ever does come to the US – if it does, it’ll likely be under a new name – we’ll probably see it for free on contract and probably on most prepaid carriers like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Aio, etc.
Is anyone interested in the LG L80 Dual? It seems like a good phone, as long as they price it right, perhaps competing with the Moto G?
