On Thursday, Republic Wireless began taking orders for the Moto G. Their newest smartphone on their network. Republic Wireless is a hybrid carrier, where they allow you to take calls and send texts over a WiFi or data connection. They have plans as low as $5/month as well. The big down side is that you can’t bring your phone over to Republic, you have to use on of theirs and there’s not a whole lot available. Mostly Motorola phones, which aren’t bad, but we like choices, right? Republic Wireless already has the Moto X and now the Moto G is joining the ranks. Orders start today with shipping starting in about 1-2 weeks. Republic is selling the Moto G for just $149, and that is without a contract, but remember that it’s not going to work on other networks anyways.
The Moto G has a 1280×720 resolution 4.5-inch display, 1GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which is a quad-core 1.5GHz chip, 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, as well as a 2020mAh battery, which lasts forever. There’s a 5MP camera on the back as well and it’s running Android 4.4.2. The Moto G is definitely a great device, especially considering it’s price. I reviewed the Moto G a couple of months ago and I was truly impressed with how well it worked and how great the battery life was. It literally lasted me a few days and I am a heavy user. Although, no LTE definitely helps to keep battery life pretty decent. Those looking for a decent, but cheap handset, the Moto G is the way to go. It’s also available on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Prepaid and Boost Mobile (Sprint’s prepaid option). We’ll have links to those below.
