Chinese manufacturer Oppo is no stranger to the mobile market. They’ve been around for a while now and they make some seriously top of the line devices, and their next big flagship doesn’t stray from that heritage. The Oppo Find 7 comes in two variants, the Find 7a and the Find 7, both of which are only separated by a few key specs. Both phones feature a 5.5-inch display, a 13 megapixel camera capable of shooting all the way up to 50 megapixels with a nice software trick, and some other nice little goodies under the hood including rapid charging and more. The big difference here is that the Find 7 features a Quad-HD/2K display at 2560 x 1440 resolution, as well as a Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. The Find 7a is the lite version and features a “measly” 1080p display, as well as a Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. What about the software inside though? Oppo has decided to stick with Android 4.3 for its ColorOS unfortunately, so those wishing for KitKat need not apply for this phone at the moment. It looks, however, like Oppo might yet again be partnering with CyanogenMod to bring the latest and greatest to its new flagship device, much like they did with the Oppo N1 late last year.
What exactly are we looking at here? Well to put it bluntly it’s just an Oppo Find 7 with CyanogenMod under the hood. These pictures were posted on Chinese social networking site Weibo and the poster claimed that the phone was shipped with this version of CyanogenMod. These shots could mean anything though, including just a custom version of CM tailored for the phone by smaller Android developers who like to cook up custom ROMs. It could also mean that we’re seeing CyanogenMod Inc. partner with Oppo yet again to bring you the CyanogenMod experience out of the box without any modifications. It makes sense too if you consider not only their past dealings but also that the OnePlus One is shipping with a custom version of CyanogenMod tailored specifically for that hardware, and OnePlus is looking more and more every day to be a spin-off company of Oppo in order to rebrand itself worldwide. Regardless of the tactics used here though it’ll be interesting to see if the Find 7 retains some of the more unique features of the device with CyanogenMod installed, like the rapid charging and 50 megapixel photos.
