Straight Talk brought us some good news. It was noticed last night by PrepaidPhoneNews.com that Straight Talk had changed their plans to give you 3GB of high-speed data for the same price they are charging you currently. Which is good news since you’re getting more data for the same price. This change is being reflected on both their $45 and $60 plans. According to Straight Talk:
“…Unlimited Plans include 3 GB of high speed data per 30 day cycle. After 3 GB, your data speed will be reduced for the remainder of the 30 day cycle. High speed data is restored once a new 30 day service plan is redeemed at the end of the 30 day plan cycle..”
So there’s still no overages, if you go over your 3GB of data, you just get slower data, which I’m sure you’re going to hate. I was kind of hoping they’d move to a system similar to T-Mobile’s where they offer a 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, and unlimited plan. That way if you use more than 3GB of data each month, you could still stick with Straight Talk. But as it stands right now, your only choice is 3GB of high-speed data. So far Straight Talk hasn’t announced the change just yet. There may not be an announcement about the change, which is cool, I mean how many people are going to care anyways? Probably mostly just us nerds that keep track of this stuff.
Straight Talk is one of the more popular MVNO’s out there. And it’s for one plain and simple reason. Because you can choose either AT&T or T-Mobile’s network. And you get unlimited talk and text with 3GB of data – throttled afterwards – for just $45/month. That’s a darn good deal. Especially if you’re buying your phones outright like the Nexus 5, or the new OnePlus One. How many of our readers are on Straight Talk? What do you think of these changes to their plans? Good right?
