Google apparently wants to get a head start when it comes to apps for the Android Wear platform. They have taken to Google+ and asked developers to submit any applications they may have built for the Android Wear platform now, so that they can take a look at them before the launch of Android Wear later this year. As we know by now Android Wear will be making an appearance at Google I/O in some form, even if we don’t actually see any Android Wear devices(although we probably will). This is a great way for developers to have the team at Google take a peek at their work before everything is set to take off, and it might even get developers extra exposure if Google decides to show off what they’ve built at Google I/O which is set to take place next month.
Early participants are not only setting themselves up for a possible showing of their app at the annual Google Developers conference, but they can also receive direct design and product feedback as well as a chance to get exposure through the Android Wear teams collection and the Play Store. Now’s the time to show the team at Android Wear what you’ve got if you’ve been working on something tirelessly since Android Wear was announced. Since the Android Wear SDK has been available for a little while now, developers have had the chance to put something together for use on any of the upcoming Android Wear smartwatches that we’re going to end up seeing not too long from now. The LG G Watch is set to be the first Android Wear smartwatch to launch, with the Moto 360 right behind it.
We’re also poised to see wearables sporting the Android Wear platform from watchmaker Fossil, Samsung, and a handful of other partners. If you have something you’d like the Android Wear team to give the once over, they’re asking any developers that are interested to send a link to their Android Wear apk to [email protected]. They’re opening up the floor to any developers who want to send them the open source code as well although they do mention that the second bit is optional and not a requirement. As we near Google I/O we can’t help but let the excitement build over Android Wear and what it has to bring to the table.
