There’s no telling what is taking ASUS and A&T so long to get subscribers the chance to buy up the ASUS PadFone X, but while those who are on the wireless carrier eagerly await for their opportunity to get their hands on a truly awesome device, it seems that ASUS is hard at work on another PadFone device to bring to the U.S., which seems to be a Phablet device in the PadFone line. The device which you can see in the image below was spotted over at the FCC earlier, so could ASUS be planning on bringing AT&T or another carrier a bigger PadFone option?
While this new PadFone device seems to come with a keyboard dock like we see saw with the old original PadFone devices and with ASUS line of transformer tablets, the keyboard dock itself seems to connect via Bluetooth which is a little different than we might have expected. You can also see from the image that the Phone part of the PadFone combination looks to be rather large, and quite bigger than what we have seeing from the other PadFone devices. Overall the Keyboard dock has the same type of design as most of ASUS other keyboard docks though, and it looks to have a pretty decent build quality.
The only problem we can see with keyboard dock being Bluetooth is that it could be a more heavy drain on the battery of the device if the keyboard charging port is for its own battery alone. With ASUS other keyboard docking devices, the keyboard generally charges the device docked into it, but with this particular model that may not be the case, of course we’ll have to wait until the device comes out in full view with specs and confirmation from ASUS before we really know what’s going on with it. According to the manual which can be found at the FCC link below, our theory of the charger working solely for the bluetooth keyboard dock and not the tablet/phone combo seems likely as it states to plug in the charger to charge the keyboard dock and not the other devices. Still if ASUS is planning on bringing out a larger sized PadFone than this might appeal to more of the crowd who like the larger displays from 5.5-inches on up.
