The Samsung Galaxy S5 has undeniably been the most anticipated device for this year and had a large amount of rumors swirling around it. Some of those rumors did come to fruition, however there were many such as a quad-HD display, a metal body and a powerful Snapdragon 805 chipset – which got dumped down the drain where all unfulfilled rumors ultimately go. The rumor mill is abuzz now with new rumors which make it seem that Samsung is readying a premium edition of the Galaxy S5, which is doing rounds as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, which will boast of some of these aforementioned rumors as confirmed specs.
A Redditor claims to have got his paws on the first ever leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime and has been kind enough to share it with the world. The image shows off the camera, heart rate sensor and Samsung logo on the back of the S5, however the bandaid-esque back-plate is replaced with a brushed metal (possibly Aluminum) finish. We would however advise caution, along with a bad-full of salt, to go with this news. The image could be a highly elaborate hoax, or a simple metallic back cover for the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, the mythical Galaxy S5 Prime has been rumored to make an appearance in due course and carry along every high-end spec under the sun. We would definitely wait and watch and keep you posted.
For those unfamiliar with Samsung’s Galaxy S5 it’s the fifth iteration in Samsung’s iconic and wildly successful Galaxy series of Android smartphones. The device was announced at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, with a global release expected by 11th of April. Being a flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5 offers top-of-line specifications including quad-band 2G and 3G connectivity, with LTE availability being market-dependent. The device bears a 5.1 inch super-AMOLED display which offers a 1080p full-HD resolution at ~432 ppi resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a 16 mega pixels (MP) ISOCELL primary camera with optical image stabilization. Selfies and video calls will be catered to by a 2 MP secondary camera which records 1080p videos @ 30 fps. The device is powered by a 2800 mAh battery, which allegedly gives up to 21 hours talktime. The device also boasts of dust and water proof capabilities.
