What Could Google And Intel Possibly Have In Store For Us On May 6th?

After the announcement that Google and Intel would be holding some sort of event coming up on May 6th, there has been plenty of buzz around what they could potentially be holding the event for. We know that it’s Chrome OS related as they was stated in the original announcement about the event, but what exactly about Chrome OS is so important that Google and Intel saw the need for a special event all it’s own instead of throwing these announcements in with the rest of Google I/O? While it’s not out of the question that the event could have something to do with new Chrome OS products and devices, it could honestly be anything and that’s exactly how people are seeing it, listing off all kinds of possible answers as to what we may see and hear.

Some ideas have stated that they could unveil their plans to release a follow up to the Chromebook Pixel, housing an Intel chip inside, which would delight us as long as it wouldn’t come with nearly as high of a pricetag.(We can dream can’t we?) Talk of an Intel powered and Chrome OS based tablet has hit the wire as well. If this were the case it could really change the way people use tablets, giving them more full productivity tools and capabilities in a small, lightweight, and cost effective package that could come in cheaper than most Chromebooks. For example, if users had the option to pick up a $150 Chrome OS powered tablet running an Intel CPU, they would have full Chrome web browser functionality in a tiny package, and could still hook up a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for times when they’re needed. It would save space and still be potentially less than at least a few of the Chromebooks. These are merely speculations though, but the thought is nice.

There are plenty of possibilities on what Google and Intel could have up their sleeves, including an assortment of new devices running some form of Intel’s Broadwell chip. Perhaps we’ll see some new Chromeboxes, but whatever the case we’re just as eager as many to know what’s in store. May 6th is only a few short days away so we won’t have to wait long before we know.
