With the launch seemingly scheduled for May 27th, it’s no wonder that rumors surrounding the upcoming G3 from LG are starting to heat up. You might think that with the launch so close, leakers and insiders would be able to keep their mouths shut, but it doesn’t work like that, does it? Another insider has taken to the web with some interesting new tidbits surrounding the internal specification of the G3 and all but confirms what a lot of people have been thinking for a long time now, that the G3 will feature Qualcomm’s latest and greatest, the Snapdragon 805.
The insider is claiming that devices being tested with a Snapdragon 801 and Full HD display have all been prototypes and that the final version of the device will indeed be packing a Snapdragon 805 and 2560 x 1440 display. Coming in at 5.5-inches, the G3 will be launching with super slim bezels if it wants to keep the overall physical size of the device as small as possible. As for the Snapdragon 805 part of these new claims, it seems very likely, as the new CPU has been slated to hit the market in devices in May since Qualcomm formally announced it.
On to imaging and the source has said that the G3 will be using the same Sony IMX124 Exmor RS sensor that’s used in the OnePlus One, but that the company will be fixing said module to their own housing to bring OIS+ to the table. OIS+ first debuted with the G Pro 2 earlier in the year and allows users to take shots quicker without any blur thanks to optical stabilization. The G2’s camera was a good showing from LG – and gets even better with some tweaking – but it looks like the G3 is to take things a bit further.
Interestingly, the source has claimed that the device is to be made of plastic, which of course goes against images of a brushed aluminum back we just saw. As such, we’re going to have to wait till May 27th to find out exactly what LG has planned for its next flagship device.
