Now that the LG G3 is out and should be in our hands within the next month. It’s now time to start talking about the new Moto X, the successor to last year’s device, which many of us thought was the perfect device, except for a few little quirks like the camera and display resolution. While it was light on features, the features it did have were pretty great. The touchless control was amazing as well. The Moto X featured a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display, which wasn’t that bad because it was a 4.7-inch device. However, we are now looking at an image from the Baidu forums that could be of the Moto X+1, and t appears that Motorola has stepped it up to a 5.2-inch 1080p display. Likely still an AMOLED display because of Active Display. The reason why they used AMOLED rather than IPS or another technology is that AMOLED lights up individual pixels. So when you are using Active Display, it’s not lighting up the entire display.
With Motorola in the news this week for closing down their Texas plant where they assembled the MotoMaker customized Moto X’s, it leaves us wondering if the Moto X+1 will have any customization like it’s predecessor had. Which was arguably a big selling point for the Moto X. We don’t know what other kind of specs Motorola is planning on tossing into the Moto X+1, but it’s likely to be more high-end than what we saw last year. Likely a Snapdragon 801 processor, with 2-3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. We may see a microSD card slot since the Moto E and now Moto G both have one, but I wouldn’t count on it.
