Motorola DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx Getting Soak Test Invites

Right now, Motorola is sending out soak test invites for a new update that is going to be pushed to the DROID Ultra and Maxx very soon. Now we don’t have anything official just yet, but we’re assuming that it’s going to be Android 4.4.2, since the Moto X variants got that update recently, to help fix battery life and a few other issues. Normally with a soak test, the invites go out this week with the update rolling out next week. So if everything goes well, those of you with the DROID Ultra and Maxx that are not in the Motorola Feedback community should get this update within a couple of weeks. Yeah it takes time, but Motorola wants to be sure there’s no bugs with the update, which is definitely a good thing.

We’re expecting it to be Android 4.4.2, but we don’t know for sure just yet. We don’t expect a huge changelog from a x.x.2 update like this, but if it’s anything like the Moto X update, it’ll be mostly about battery life. As it seems that KitKat has a lot wakelocks in it, which I’ve seen on the Moto X, LG G2, HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5 with KitKat. So there’s only so much that Motorola can do to fix these wakelocks without Google pushing out a new version of KitKat. Which has been rumored to happen for quite a while now. But we may see Motorola work some magic with the battery life, as they’ve done before with the Motorola DROID Maxx line up.

For those of you with soak test invites, make sure you fill out that survey so that you are eligible for the update, also be sure to let us know in the comments below how you like the update once it starts rolling out. How many of you are still sporting the DROID Ultra or the DROID Maxx? Let us know in the comments down below.
