Motorola Tweets Teaser Of New Phone For Tomorrows Event

Tomorrow(or right around 1 a.m. here on the west coast) is Motorola’s big announcement which is said to include the unveiling of the Moto E device that has been teased and talked about over the last month or so. May 13th is the big day for Moto, which as one would have it is tomorrow, and to reiterate the stuff they’re going to show the world they wanted to leave a friendly reminder on Twitter that a new phone is coming and that it’ll be geared towards people who are either going to be using a smartphone for the first time, or those who are looking to stay on the less expensive end for a handset.

The tweet consisted of a screenshot image of the UI belonging to an unknown smartphone device, accompanied by a message that said simply, “Only hours left now, are you ready?” Along with that message was the #GoodbyeFlipPhone hastag. Since Motorola themselves haven’t confirmed that the screenshot was from the Moto E or that they’ll be showing it off tomorrow, we can’t say for certain this is the low cost Moto E that we’ve been talking about for weeks. However, the past image seen over the weekend shows a UI displayed that looks just like the screenshot image posted to Twitter today so it’s likely what we’re looking at is a Moto E screenshot.

The hashtag #GoodbyeFlipPhone also implies that with this new device they’re essentially trying to replace people’s desires to stick with flip phones due to the low cost, since this should be just a little bit more than full retail for most flip phones. Motorola seems to be suggesting that this new device will have some sort of resistance to the elements, which is one of the details we’ll be looking out for once the event starts. For what could be an insanely low price, the Moto E could end up being a great phone for the money, with rumored specs like Android kit kat, a 5MP rear camera, 4.3-inch screen, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage and a Snapdragon dual-core processor. Will Motorola be showing off the Moto E in the morning? We’ll know soon enough.
