Oppo N1 Mini Stops by the FCC, Poses for Some Selfies

Oppo’s previous big flagship phone at the end of 2013 was the Oppo N1, a new kind of phone that featured a camera that could swivel a full 206 degrees.  This gave users a high quality 13 megapixel camera that could swivel and take pictures in the most interesting ways possible, including super high quality selfies without having to guess where you are aiming the camera.  The biggest problem with the device wasn’t the price, which retailed around $599 or so depending on where you hail from, it was the size of the device.  While many people love larger phones, there are still a majority of people that don’t want a phone with a 5.9-inch screen like the Oppo N1 has, and now Oppo is answering that call with the Oppo N1 Mini.

The Oppo N1 Mini comes with a 5-inch screen, which doesn’t make it a small phone, rather just a smaller version of the Oppo N1.  This is fantastic news because you’re getting the same quality phone, the same super fast processor and 13 megapixel camera with 206 degree swivel, but in a much smaller package.  The only downside that can be seen here is that the 5-inch screen, which is the same size as most flagship devices nowadays, only pushes 720p resolution, resulting in a less crisp display than most other flagships have.  While this will be a turnoff for some users it’s likely to come with a bit of a price reduction as well.  Also of note is the single LED flash on the body of the Oppo N1 Mini as opposed to the dual LED flash on the original Oppo N1.  Whether or not this makes a huge difference to you will depend on how you take pictures and in what lighting conditions, but it may not matter at all to some.  There’s also a smaller battery inside, packing only 2,140mAh in size making it smaller than most other flagships’ batteries as well.  The Oppo N1 Mini has officially passed through the FCC as can be seen in the pictures here, so expect it to go on sale in the very near future, likely only through Oppo’s website as has been the case with the regular N1.
