LG is getting impatient, but then again, that is a good thing for us. The upcoming iteration of LG’s last years’ flagship – the LG G2 – is much anticipated in tech circles, especially since this device would be what the Google Nexus 6 is expected to be based off – that is if LG would be the one to make the Nexus 6. The official announcement of the LG G3 is expected during next week – 27th of May to be exact, however LG has announced an official accessory – a ‘QuickCircle’ case – for the device.
For all intents and purposes, the QuickCircle case is an upgrade of last years’ QuickWindow case for the LG G2, and is a folder-style case where the cutout window has become – wait for it – a circle! In terms of protection, the QuickCircle case protects the phone as a folder-type case is meant to do. The cutout circle gives access to various phone functions like accessing notifications, checking time and date, making calls, sending text messages, accessing and listening to music and even taking quick snapshots and videos. The QuickCircle window also emits a circular glow inside once the case is opened or closed and in case of any notification. LG has been smart enough to identify the importance of the Android developer community and have announced to release an SDK for the case sometime next month, so that developers may build custom functions for the QuickCircle case. Another important aspect is that the case is designed to be Qi compatible, so if you have a Qi wireless charger lying around somewhere, that can also be put to good use.
LG does have a solid reasoning behind their releasing of the SDK for QuickCircle case, in the words of Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobil, “They’re the perfect accessory to build in extra features that add more value to a mobile device. With QuickCircle Case, we’ve exceeded the baseline by making it customizable to better fit users’ needs.”
The QuickCircle case will be available in five color options – Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Aqua Mint and Indian Pink, however the pricing aspect is not available as of yet. We expect the pricing of any official accessory to be announced alongside the LG G3‘s official announcement. We have our eyes peeled out for further news on this and will definitely keep you posted. In the meantime, do let us know what you think about the QuickCircle case in the comments below.
