Xiaomi has quickly become known as a company that not only creates good Android smartphones, but a company that offers great value. They proved as much with the original Red Rice devices, a smartphone that offered a 4.7-inch 720p display, a quad-core CPU and more for just 799 Yuan when it launched. Since then it’s been reduced a couple of times to offer even better value, but Xiaomi also released a much larger version of the device for those looking for a bigger display. The RedMi Note launched with a 5.5-inch 720p display and MediaTek Octa-Core CPU not too long ago and has been on sale in China for a while now. For international buyers however, the RedMi Note hasn’t been much of a proposition, until now.
The WCDMA version of the device is available to purchase from China for international shipping at long last, which means those looking to get their hands on the device might just be able to get 3G on the device now. Unfortunately, it looks like the WCDMA version only supports the 900 and 2100 mHz bands, which wouldn’t make it much use for those in North America. Still, the 900 mHz band is widely used throughout Europe, so our European readers could have a good buy on their hands. It’s available from Spemall for $265 US, and depending on where you are in the world, expect to pay some hefty shipping costs.
The Moto G 4G however, is probably a better buy for those in Europe as well as the US, as it supports LTE as well as 3G on pretty much any network. It’s also a little cheaper. Still, if you’ve always wanted to get your hands on a Xiaomi device, this is a decent one to start with, and the screen size helps it to stand out from the Moto G, offering those phablet fans something to lust after.
