GooPhone’s Galaxy S5 Knockoff Now on Sale for $149.99 Worldwide
GooPhone has long been known for introducing more affordable versions of popular devices from Apple, Samsung and HTC and now, the GooPhone S5 is finally here. A cut above most other clone devices, the S5 features a quad-core CPU, Android 4.4 KitKat, a 2,800 mAh battery, laminated 5.1-inch 720p display and more. Available for $149.99 for 8GB, the device will ship anywhere in the world and even comes in the same sort of copper gold as Samsung’s own. There’s no fingerprint sensor or heartbeat monitor here, but what more can you expect?
Motorola Announce Moto E
Earlier in the week, Motorola announced the Moto E, the company’s most affordable Android smartphone, while still offering a great experience. With a 4.3-inch qHD display, a dual-core Snapdragon CPU, 1GB of RAM and a little bit of a rugged edge to it, the Moto E is a good buy and you can read more about it here. It’s already listed for purchase in India and the majority of Europe.
Galaxy S5 Available through NTT DoCoMo in Japan
The Galaxy S5 is now available in Japan through NTT DoCoMo, and as we covered earlier in the week it’s available in a hot pink color and with many of the features Japanese smartphones come with. For those interested in Samsung’s latest, we reviewed the Galaxy S5 a littler earlier on in the year.
Chuwi VX3 is a 7-inch Smartphone with an Octa-Core CPU and Full HD Display for $200
Larger smartphones are certainly more popular in Asia, but this 7-inch device perhaps takes this to a whole other extreme. The Chuwi VX3 features an octa-core MT6592 CPU, a 3,000 mAh battery and a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 display. It’s available internationally from folks like AliExpress, but the $200 price tag isn’t going to get you the 7-inch tablet or phone of your dreams as it only supports 2100 mHz for WCDMA 3G, which is fairly limited. Still, this is an interesting idea and one that ASUS has perfected almost with their FonePad.
Dual-Screen YotaPhone Launches in the Middle East
After roll outs throughout Europe, the eInk packing YotaPhone wil be available in the Middle East through Etisalat and from online retailer Jumbo Electronics. Those not familiar with the YotaPhone won’t realize the device has two screens, with the main one being a 4.3-inch 720p LCD and the rear one being an eInk display you might find on a Kindle. This display is used of notifications, boarding passes and loyalty cards and such. The overall specs of the YotaPhone aren’t that great, with a dual-core 1.7 Ghz CPU running the show, but that’s enough for day-to-day sort of tasks.
Moto G Ferrari Edition Heading to Mexico
Motorola had a busy week this week, with the introduction of the Moto E and the Moto G 4G, but they didn’t stop there, and also introduced the Moto G Ferrari Edition. So far, it looks like the device is just for the Mexican market and will cost 4,999 Pesos. Essentially a Moto G 4G, this features Ferrari branding as well as a kevlar back like the Droid line does in the US.
Xiaomi Announces First Android Tablet, the MiPad
As well as releasing a new 4K MIUI powered TV, the Chinese giant also released their first Android tablet, the MiPad. With a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 display, the MiPad is a great tablet thanks to the Tegra K1 CPU inside from Nvidia. There’s 2GB of RAM at work here, as well as 16GB of storage that can be expandable to 128GB if needed and it starts at just 1,499 Yuan. This is, of course, a WiFi-only tablet, but that shouldn’t put people off much at all.
