ASUS Rumored To Be Launching The Zenfone Line In India On July 9th

ASUS isn’t a huge player in the U.S. smartphone market, but they are more well known in other international regions, like say India for example. Rumors coming out of the Indian media, The India Times to be more specific, are saying that ASUS is gearing up to launch its line of Zenfones in the region on July 9th. That’s just a few weeks away and if true would include the ASUS Zenfone 4, the ASUS Zenfone 5, and the ASUS Zenfone 6. As we mentioned ASUS isn’t big in the U.S. when it comes to smartphones, but in other parts of the world they are a more prominent OEM. Each phone is tailored to a specific market, which is those looking for devices with a particular screen size.

Each device has a display respective to its name, so the Zenfone 4 has a 4-inch display, the Zenfone 5 has a 5-inch display and so on. For those that like the more mini aspect of a phone would probably go for the ASUS Zenfone 4 while someone who is in the market for the biggest display they can get their hands on would shoot for the ASUS Zenfone 6. We got some sneak peeks at the Zefone line back in January when ASUS unveiled the line of phones to come at CES, and we’re just as excited about them now as we were back then. However our excitement is a tad bit short lived for the fact that this the phones releasing are not in our region. All the devices support dual sim cards and come running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with ASUS Zen UI overlay, but that for the most part is where the similarities end.

Each phone has varying cameras, and each phone has a different sized battery to better account for screen size and other features relevant to that device. With the Zenfone 4 you’re looking at a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera, and a smaller 1,200mAh battery, while the Zenfone 5 has an 8MP rear and 2MP front camera and is equipped with a 2,110mAh battery. Lastly, the ASUS Zenfone 6 comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera, and comes with the biggest battery of the three at 3,300mAh. Processor wise, the Zenfone 4 is powered by a 1.2GHz intel atom dual core CPU, the Zenfone 5 is powered by a 1.6GHz intel atom dual core CPU, and the Zenfone 6 is powered by a 2GHz intel atom dual core CPU. All of the devices support Bluetooth 4.0 LE and 3G HSPA+ networks. While there isn’t any mention of price just yet, one thing that was noted is that even though all three devices run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, updates to Android 4.4 Kit Kat are coming.
