Google Maps is by far the best mapping system available right now. It has gone above and beyond with its navigation services. With its turn-by-turn directions and voice assistance, Google Maps has helped many of us navigate through new cities or find alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic. Just a little bit after the Google I/O Keynote, Google sent out another update for Google Maps that brings a few new features to the loved navigation system.
The new features added in this new update are small and incremental but have made a few things much more simple and gives you more information. According to Google in the app description, Search results appear right on the map with descriptions to help you make choices quickly. This feature gives you the option to do quick research on places you can go to with information displayed to help you decide where you want to go. The next feature is transit results, which provide you with total walking time of your trip and the next scheduled bus or train. This feature is really nifty for people who live in big cities and use public transit or just for people that solely use buses or trains to avoid high gas prices. This information can be vital due to the mishaps that can happen when using public transportation such as a bus breaking down or if your train is running late. Last but not least, Terrain view gets even better. Now you can access Terrain View from the side menu to get a 3D view of the landscape and elevation. This feature would be good for people that go camping or if you’re like me and secretly snoop on your neighborhood from the comforts of your own home. Its gives you a 3D view and shows the landscape elevation; reason why I say it would be good for camping, you not only get to see where you are going but get a detailed view of where you are and what may be ahead.
Does any of these new features excite you? Why not go try them out and let us know what you think in the comments below. If you are not already using Google Maps, you should can go download it for free from the Play Store and go on a road trip.
