On the first of April we reported that, ‘Rogers will exclusively carry the HTC One (M8) in Amber Gold, available mid-May.’ Well, ‘mid-May’ has now arrived and Rogers is finally selling the new Amber Gold HTC One M8. The delay was “due to the high demand,” but at least now it is available for purchase – and just like we predicted back in April – the price has come down $50 to only $179.99 on a two-year contract or $699 if you choose to go month-to-month, or off-contract.
The HTC One M8 in Amber Gold is the exact same device as the Gunmetal Gray and Glacier Silver, only the color has been changed. You get the same beautifully sculptured aluminum body and dual stereo BoomSound front mounted speakers. The HTC One M8 packs a 5-inch Full HD display of 1920 x 1080 resolution with 441 pixels-per-inch. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800/801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB of memory with 32GB…and this year HTC added a microSD card slot that allows the user to add up to an additional 128GB of storage. The main camera uses 4MP of UltraPixels and is the same one as last year, which is a little disappointing, however, they did add a Duo Camera. The Duo Camera is a secondary camera, but is not involved with the actual picture taking, but used to get a sense of depth or perspective for special effects. This is all powered by a 2600mAh battery in a body that measures, 146.3 x 70.6 x 9.35mm and weighs in at 160g. The HTC One M8 is running the latest Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC’s newest Sense 6.0.
Rogers has brought in a couple of exclusive devices to Canada – the LG G Flex was also a Rogers only device and now the Amber Gold HTC One M8 – it’s just a shame it took so long to arrive, but there should be some users due for a new device and the Amber Gold just adds to their selection.
