Huawei's Flagship 'Mulan' Specs and Renders Leak

A new Huawei smartpone, dubbed the Mulan, surfaced in benchmarks at the end of last month. Today, we’re seeing some more details about the Mulan, coming from Chinese site Weibo. New specs give us a better idea of what the new smartphone will bring with it, as well as a render that gives us an idea of what the Mulan will look like.

The Mulan is running on an octa-core Kirin 920 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, 3GB of RAM, and a Mali-T624 GPU. Even though the device is clocked at just 1.3GHz, it still scored a respectable 37,999 points in AnTuTu benchmarks. Benchmark speeds aren’t everything, but the Mulan beat the Galaxy Note 3 in these tests. The Mulan will feature a 19200 x 1080 resolution display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5.1-megapixel front facing camera, and 16GB of internal storage. It’s running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and has Huawei’s custom overlay, Emotion 2.3, on top of that. The render in the image above looks a bit like the Huawei Ascend P1. The folks who leaked the info on Weibo weren’t able to share any images of the front or back of the device. The Ascend P1 came out in May of 2012. This new leaked device has similar bump or ridge on the bottom of it.

A senior VP at Huawei mentioned back in April that the company was working on a new high-end smartphone with a metal casing and a fingerprint scanner built in. The render that we’re seeing here doesn’t look anything like the previously leaked images of that flagship, although the specs seem to match up. Either way we’re interested in seeing what Huawei brings to market with the Mulan.

Just last month we saw images of what could be the Ascend D3 leak out, as well. The D3 looks like a bit like the HTC One (M8) but the bezels on the sides are almost non-existent. The D3 is supposed to be running on the same octa-core Kirin 920 CPU, and 1080p display as the Mulan. Huawei is bringing their A-game in 2014.
