International Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) Updated to Include Download Booster & Kids Mode

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 just keeps getting better and better – the first of June the T-Mobile variant received an upgrade that added Knox 2.0, Download Booster and Kids Mode.  Today we are told that the International Snapdragon version (SM-N9005) is currently receiving the same upgrade in the U.K. – ALL Galaxy Note 3s should receive the upgrade very shortly.  The download is about 185MB in size and the build number is N9005XXUFNF4.

As usual, the updates are the rolling type, so it could be a couple days before your update downloads automatically – if you are in a hurry, just go to Settings -> General -> About phone -> Software update -> Check for new software update, and it should give it to you…remember to hook into Wi-Fi first to help save some data charges, as every little bit helps.

Remember now, the Kids Mode will not actually be on your device, only the installer is in the download.  You would have to initiate the Kids Mode installer to actually download the necessary files for actual installation – a GREAT move on Samsung’s part, as we have enough bloatware on the devices now and most people would probably never even use the application.  Kids Mode allows you to set up certain Apps or Contacts that you would allow your children to have access to if you would hand your phone over them to use.

The Download Booster is another GREAT feature – when you are trying to download a large file, Download Booster will increase the download speed by using both a Wi-Fi connection and your Mobile Data connection at the same time. The Download Booster icon will appear in the notifications bar if it is being used.

One of the senior members of XDA posted that they felt that battery life had improved slightly.  Also, being a heavy gamer, they felt that the animations has also improved and that the KNOX 2.0 upgrade makes the App look much more refined than before.  In their opinion, this is one upgrade that has actually made a difference to their phone.

Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you have received your upgrade and what kind of a difference, if any, you have noticed…as always, we would love to hear from you.
